SOME OF OUR CONTRIBUTIONS

Orient Hills Day Care

Orient Hills Day Care provides nurturing care for the pre-school children of a remote informal settlement near Magaliesburg, west of Johannesburg, in South Africa. We offer a vital service in the community providing a safe and stimulating Christian-based environment where children can play and learn, and enjoy two wholesome meals every day.

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela

Bursaries

MASA offers an all-inclusive bursary to talented young individuals who are planning to study full-time towards an Undergraduate Degree in the fields of Accounting Sciences or Internal Audit. In our 1st year we have taken under our wing Liyema Ngcete – a bright young woman from Grahamstown. She is currently enrolled at the University of Witwatersrand studying towards a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting Sciences. We believe that education opens so many avenues for our youth and we at MASA are dedicated to contributing as best we can. To be considered, you must be a South African citizen and have acceptance or provisional acceptance for studies at a South African public University or University of Technology for 2020.

My name is Liyema Ngcete and I am from Grahamstown (Makhanda), Eastern Cape. I am currently enrolled as a first-year student   at The University of the Witwatersrand, studying towards a Bachelor of Accounting Science. From a young age, I had a yearning to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant. I thoroughly enjoyed Mathematics and Accounting during High School. This career is internationally recognized and will expose me to an exciting, flexible business world with unlimited opportunities.

Once I have completed my Undergraduate Degree, I will further my studies by obtaining   a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA).

Being awarded the MASA Bursary has provided me with an amazing opportunity to study at a top university, which will bring about an unforgettable experience. I am extremely thankful for MASA’s generous investment in my future and for going the extra mile to ensure that I succeed. The bursary has paved a way for me to work towards becoming a CA, relieving my family and I from financial strain so that I can focus on the goal of graduating with outstanding results. It acts as a source of motivation in my life daily, constantly reminding me that the MASA Team believes that I have the potential to excel and make my dreams a reality.

Liyema Ngcete

My name is Kgaogelo Bridget Mmako. I reside in the small community of Olievenhoutbosch. I am currently in the freshman year of my Bachelor of Accounting Science degree. It has been my passion to have the ability to apply business principles and accounting rules to ensure that businesses are conducted in an ethical manner and the meaning of professionalism and good business practice are emphasized as the issue of corruption in companies is alleviated.

Chartered Accountancy connects various industries and opens doors to sectors that one can find interesting work in. It opens international opportunities and is a gateway to a challenging and exciting career.

As an honoured recipient of the MASA bursary programme, I am able to complete my undergraduate degree, further my studies by obtaining a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting( CTA) and hopefully being able to complete a learnership programme so I am able to write my two qualifying examinations, namely the Initial test of Competence (ITC) and the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

This opportunity has enabled me to believe that I possess some kind of potential to achieve the unimaginable, it has encouraged me to have a sense of direction, it has inspired vision and has made it my personal mission to contribute other student’s achieve their goals. MASA’s generous investment in my future has freed my family from financial strain so I am able to focus on my studies and obtain outstanding results.

I express my gratitude to MASA for giving me a once in lifetime opportunity and being a contributing factor to my growth as an individual. Being part of a family that constantly believes in your efforts makes it easier for one to overcome obstacles and always strive to achieve excellence. The light has ‘dawned’ and increased the clearness on my path.
